Greene: ‘I’m not a member of the burn-it-all-down caucus anymore’

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) on Thursday dubbed the House Freedom Caucus the “burn-it-all-down caucus,” a swipe at the conservative group that ousted her from its ranks over the summer.

“I’m not a member of the burn-it-all-down caucus anymore,” Greene told reporters. “I’m a greatly, very happily a free agent and I want to do my job here.”

Members of the caucus voted to boot Greene from their ranks over the summer after the Georgia Republican supported the debt limit bill that Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) and President Biden crafted to avoid a default, which drew ire from many in the right flank — some of whom are members of the caucus.

"I'm a free agent, and I want to do my job for the highest bidder."

I mean, can we pay her to do it right? I know we're already doing that, but can we pretend to bribe her and yoink away the giant check right before she takes it? Like this
Lucy van Pelt makes Charlie Brown trip by removing the football at the last moment in comical fashion

... says the woman seeking a retaliatory impeachment of Biden...

And telling states to secede. It doesn’t get much more “burning it down” than that.

I really hate every picture of her. It is so frustrating trying to square how weird she looks with how much power she holds.

Her eyes are too close together and her cheek bones are too big and high, which only embellishes how close together her eyes are. That's why she looks so weird.

She's a capybara in fancy clothes.

Whoa, whoa! That's extremely offensive! Capybaras are the most chill, and lliked creatures on the planet!

Yeah, Janice apparently had quite the personality change after she left the Electric Mayhem

I really wish she'd just come out and say that she's trans, it's really not that big of a deal. Nobody would make her feel bad for it, no one is looking to dead-name her or anything, except maybe members of her own party. The same way everybody else would be fine with Lindsey Graham coming out of the closet, it's the hypocrisy and projection of these people that bothers alot of people. She should just be honest about it I think.

She needs to seek therapy.

Therapy? She needs institutionalized mental healthcare. Where she is supervised 24/7.

There's no fixing that level of malignant narcissism. The people of the world need to be protected from her.

Therapy isn't designed to make someone a good person. Therapy is designed to help individuals cope with their internal struggles. It only makes narcissists worse.

Was with you up until the last sentence. I think that narcissists can benefit tremendously from certain kinds of therapy, especially approaches that can't be used as simple biweekly affirmation.

She's not a member of the Burn It All Down Caucus. Now she's a Burn It All Down free agent. Much better, right?

She's an equal opportunity burn it downer now. Hate for hire, if you will.

...because they kicked me out. Seriously, who thinks she wouldn't still be a member otherwise...?

Exactly. She's being rejected because she's MTG.

She's close, but the Republican party is the burn it all down party.

Nah they're the, "we got ours, fuck you," party.

Yes, fuck you by burning it all down.

What "job" would that be, Marge? Pretend you're on The Jerry Springer Show? Do and say the most offensive, repulsive, and provocative things you can think of for attention?

Is there a single more stupid bitch?

Genuinely, I want to know, because I don’t think there is

Maybe tied with Boebert?

I genuinely did not realize this wasn't boebert.. Apparently it's easy to conflate the amount of stupid going on...

Right, this is the one who got into an argument with Boebert about which of them got to file impeachment charges. And, somehow, both of them got reelected after their first term where they were... them.

Well. yes. Yes it is. I have to constantly ask myself "which one is this again".... and then I find myself asking, why do I even care. They're both idiots. they're both annoying, and they're both both a symptom and a cause...

Can we criticize even shitty people without resorting to sexist remarks please? Lemmy feels like it should be above that kinda language. Call her a turd or whatever 💩

It’s always disappointing to see people who think themselves reasonable delighting in the usage of slurs when given the opportunity to tear down someone they perceive as disliked by their community. It is much more damning to them than the object of their ire.

Greene is a symptom of the cancer metastasized on our civilization, but deploying gendered slurs against her is counterproductive and pitiful.

It's the attacks on appearance for me.

Pointless ones. She looks like a normal person. That she's got an infection of fascist brain worms is something you can call out directly.

I don't know... she looks like she has crazy eyes to me. I don't think that's sexist. I can think of plenty of crazy men with the similar look in their eyes.

1: Bitch isn’t a slur any more than dick is. That’s just an objectively false statement.

2: If someone is being a bitch, I’m going to call them a bitch - regardless of gender

Or would you prefer “cunt”?

Unfortunately for you, you are not the authority on what is and isn’t a slur.

It has been used as a "term of contempt towards women" for "over six centuries", and is a slur that fosters sexism against women. It has been characterized as "an archaic word demeaning women since as early as the 15th century" that seeks to control women.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bitch_(slang)

Calling someone a bitch is no different than calling someone a dick or an asshole - and is not strictly tied to any gender. I’ll call anyone a bitch if they’re acting like one.

It would be different if I was casually referring to her as a bitch, like “I was talking to this one bitch” or something, but that’s not the case.

Since when was bitch sexist?

It depends on context. In this case it obviously is. If I were to say bitch please in a sassy way, it probably isn't.

I wouldn’t call her a “bitch”, but I would not disagree with the statement that she could be grouped in same category and class as Kyle’s Mom from South Park from the perspective of Eric Cartman

2 more...

She knows exactly what she's doing. She's telling the stupid and hateful exactly what they want to hear, and she's getting all that fantastic attention she craves.

2 more...

Are they doing a human centipede and eating each other alive, asshole first?

She’s part of the “I’m tryna not get arrested for the next step of craziness” crowd publicly but still part of it privately.

They’re realizing they don’t actually have backing and are hiding again.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

Members of the caucus voted to boot Greene from their ranks over the summer after the Georgia Republican supported the debt limit bill that Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) and President Biden crafted to avoid a default, which drew ire from many in the right flank — some of whom are members of the caucus.

Greene called Boebert a “little b—-” after the Colorado Republican unexpectedly forced a vote on her articles of impeachment against Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.

Greene criticized Boebert for not explaining her decision to the House GOP conference, and she said her Colorado colleague copied her articles of impeachment targeting Mayorkas.

The Georgia Republican came to Congress in 2021 as a rabble rouser, quickly becoming a conservative thorn in the side of GOP leadership.

Greene on Thursday suggested in a post on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, that she would not support the spending bill because it includes funding for Ukraine, which she opposes.

In July, after news broke of Greene’s ouster from the Freedom Caucus, the congresswoman called the group “the drama club.”

The original article contains 489 words, the summary contains 176 words. Saved 64%. I'm a bot and I'm open source!

Is this her redemption arc? Probably not.

I guess she sold out to the establishment. Sad, but it happens to all promising young politicians eventually.
