no racism rule

I've literally never heard anybody in my life say this.

You might just need to consider yourself lucky, then, because I've met several people this bigoted and have absolutely heard some derivation of this numerous times.

My mother in law was almost crying with joy when I (a white guy) was eating her dinner with my hands for the first time. I was just confused at what the fuss was. Remember we all live in our bubbles.

Look for a local charity vid from southeast Asia. Local people who make these huge portions of food for the impoverished are usually scooping the rice and curry with their hands. Normal people will see this and say "hell yeah glad they're supporting each other" while a racist would call it dirty and make a white savior bit out of it.

Ya but I also think it's ok to react to foreign cultures in a variety of ways. There isn't one way we have to be all the time. If someone is grossed out by something they've never seen before then they aren't automatically a bigot or racist.

If someone scooped up my rice with their hands I'd not want the rice. We use utensils for serving things and I'm sure other cultures have a variety of opinions about that. I'm sure I'd get used to it if I moved somewhere where it was normal.

I'm happy to hear that's the case for you, unfortunately my relatives are pretty terrible and seem to look for any opportunity to be shitty

You haven’t met my greatest generation grandparents then

Or, you know, sandwiches

pizza, sandwich, burger, hot dog, corn dog, fries, rolls (and basically any bread-like thing), buffalo wings, chicken nuggets / tenders, fish sticks, most fruit, any veggies that can be eaten raw, most quick snacks, and so much more.

Corn dog does not belong on that list. You don’t eat the stick

jesus fucking christ fine. replace corn dog with: corn on the cob, tacos, burritos, nachos, tater tots, bbq ribs, breadsticks, calzones, mozzarella sticks, etc.

I eat tots and calzones with a fork. As well as big wet burritos.

I AM NOT here to judge or shame you for what foods you don’t eat with your bare hands.

I ABSOLUTELY AM here to both judge and shame people who will not eat something with their hands “because it’s gross”, but discount all the things they do eat with their hands as “it doesn’t count”, while they are perfectly fine eating dozens of other foods with their hands.

i don’t care what you eat with a fork. i care what you eat with your bare hands while judging others for what they eat with their bare hands.

Wait you're not supposed to eat the stick?

How else am I supposed to get my fiber?

I always remove the stick once I've eaten down to the stick. So for me, at least half the corn dog is always eaten with my hands.

I just push it down the Stick so I can always take a bite off the end and not throat the stick

I push it up the stick so it disguises the stick better, then I can eat it and get my fibre.

i eat pizza with a fork and knife

Yes officer this comment right here.

I eat fries with a fork.

Ok I feel this one is fine

How else am I supposed to dunk them in mayo?

With your fingers? Do you completely submerge them in mayo or something?

The only time it is acceptable to use a fork for fries is whith those super soggy ones that were immersed in ketchup/mayo. You use a fork to scoop those up and put them in the trash. Those are far worse than pineapple on pizza or fries with ketchup.

You looked good in today's mugshot, mr Trump

Fun fact: Italian "well mannered" people are expected to eat pizza with fork and knife, exactly because eating with hands is considered gross by "eating etiquette experts" (I have no idea how to call people judging other people own businesses)

In practice, you guys are eating pizza like poor people, what a shame!! /s

Fun fact: no italian has ever ate pizza with a fork and knife. The only time when these 3 things should be togheter is when cutting the pizza (surprisingly, pizza cutters are fairly uncommon ).

If you see an "italian" eating pizza with a fork, they arent italian, they are sicilian

Italian from Veneto here, eat with fork and knife unless its a slice from a fast food like Autogrill/ eating standup

any food is hand food if you wash your hands after.

any food is hand food if you wash your hands after.

And how about before?

That sounds like quiter talk

The dirt adds so much extra interesting bits to the texture of the food

I feel like it's diff when it's literally a dry part of the food item meant to be grabbed like that and most ppl would still use napkins and shit.

You probably use your hand to wipe your ass as well. Civilized people use a bidet. Like the french or smth, I don't know I never used one.

the fr*nch absolutely are not civilised

In the UK squat toilets still get called French-style despite not beong found in France for generations.

Angry baguette noises...

But yeah most houses in France don't have a bidet. They wipe

I'm french, never seen a bidet except in foreign hotels.

Indians use bidets (not all of them, but water is the common method)

Hand washing your ass with water is much cleaner than those who only use toilet paper and call it a day

Eating with your hands is awesome

Hands is the only way to eat

Why are people in others fucking business. Just let people eat with whatever they want. Its not affecting you in any fucking way.

With that being said, I think indians are eww for other reasons.

amazing. true open minded educated racism.

/s ←←← look!!!

I dont think it is racism to call up bad habits from countries. From my experience, the country of India has very bad habits in regards to hygene. I am talking about keeping streets clean and preparing street food with hygene. Other countries have bad habits too. For example americans are crazy about their guns and their education is underwhelming. It is not racist to call for those things imo.

I am a person of color myself, and Im pretty sure that my country of origin has also a lot of bad habits. I have had a couple of friends from India and their homes have not been the cleaniest, but I still loved to hang out with them.

Absolutely, what's wrong in my book is relating that directly with the Indian people. Systemic issues such as waste disposal or irregular access to clean water are real, but that's not "indians being eww". In fact India is where I learned to clean my butt with water ! and never, ever eat with my left hand 😁

Kinda funny how people switched to eating fries (for Brits: chips) with forks to eating them with hands. Why doesn't anybody talk about this?

Chips used to go as a side on a plated meal. Now they go as a side on a takeaway meal, or on their own.

As the Shah of Persia once said to Nehru,

« Eating with a fork is like making love through an interpreter. »

And the logical extension…
