A livid Donald Trump rants against judge hearing his New York fraud case
dailykos.com

Donald Trump has been in a New York court today to defend himself against charges of longtime financial fraud, but during a recess in the proceedings, he targeted the judge hearing his case with a livid, deluded eight-minute rant.

... He ruled we lost a big part of the case because he's a Democrat club politician. He's a Democrat operative. And he's a disgrace to people that call themself judges. And I hope my lawyers go in, and I hope they fight him very hard. ‘Cause this guy's getting away with murder. And his clerk should not be allowed to be in his ear on every single question. You take a look at what's happening with her. She hates Trump more than he does. [...]

This is a judge that should be disbarred. This is a judge that should be out of office. This is a judge that some people say could be charged criminally for what he's doing. He’s interfering with an election, and it's a disgrace.

Referring to Judge Arthur Engoron, who will decide the financial penalties that Trump might owe, Trump repeatedly referred to him as a "rogue judge," an "operative," and a "disgrace."

At other points in the rant, he snarled that the attorney general overseeing the case, New York’s Letitia James, is "a corrupt person, a terrible person driving people out of New York," and said that "people" saw this "egregious trial, this horrible, horrible trial going off, while at the same time people are being murdered outside on the streets and nothing happens to those people that do the murdering."

As usual, Trump's speech was laced with apparent threats aimed at his judge.

And somebody has to fight because if you don't fight, our country is just gonna go down the tubes. This is election interference. This guy's a highly partisan person, and we can't let this stuff happen.

Members of Trump's base have regularly taken this "fight" language as permission to mount harassment campaigns and death threats against Trump's enemies of the moment, whether they be public figures or private citizens.

"I've been going through a witch hunt for years, so this is really now getting dirty between Jack Smith and between all of these DOJ people helping them along. This is a pure witch hunt for purposes of interfering with the elections of the United States of America," Trump falsely claimed before storming off. "It's totally illegal. This judge should be disbarred. He shouldn't be allowed to be a judge.”

If I pulled this shit on a judge, my bond would be revoked immediately and the bailiff ordered to remand me to custody in a concrete and steel box to await the trial's completion.

Fuck me, I had a judge threaten to revoke bond because I had the temerity to inquire about a public defender. Last month a judge sentenced (deferred) my ex to 10-days for fucking me on spring break visitation. And she had the fucking sense to STFU for the whole trial! Trump acts like these judges are his personal peons talking back at him.

And yes, I get it. The justice system has to be more than fair in these cases. You have to admit, it's a wild historical precedent and we must step carefully when throwing a President of the US in jail (yes, I believe he still gets that title). And I'm OK with that! But we can't get a solid gag order on this animal?!

(Not sure he's out of bail for this one. FFS, I literally can't keep up with the charges, courts, etc.)

Last month a judge sentenced (deferred) my ex to 10-days for fucking me on spring break visitation

Congratulations on the sex

Ugh. Not with a 10-foot frog. Not on a dare. Not even for green eggs and ham.

He literally doesn't have the self control to comply with a gag order and also he can fundraise off it saying his freedom of speech is being violated

But we can’t get a solid gag order on this animal?!

How? Trump doesn't listen to reason and he has been getting away his whole life with stuff less rich and powerful people would have been thrown into jail a long time ago. That's the only thing he has ever learned. And as long as he keeps getting away with it he will keep doing so.

If we want him to keep his mouth shut and stop interfering into the justice process, he would need to be locked up with no access to any internet.

the more likely reason they threatened to revoke bond is your insufferable attempts at shoving the thesaurus into every sentence.

Which word was too big for you? That was written to a 6th grade reading level and it struck you as pretentious? (sorry, big word again.)

6th grade

explain in a more global context

6th grade in the US is for kids that are generally 11-12 years old.

Why? It is clear but the story he's talking about the US legal system.

Critical reading, and vocab issues. Damn dude you r bad at bookz

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sixth_grade

Sixth grade (also 6th Grade or Grade 6) is the sixth year of formal or compulsory education. Students in sixth grade are usually 11-12 years old. It is commonly the first or second grade of middle school or the last grade of elementary school, and the sixth school year since kindergarten.

Looks like a pretty common term in many countries to me.

not mine.

Understandable. But a simple search gives a pretty straightforward answer here. I would understand the need for clarification if it were a complicated concept, but this is isn't that.

so now i have to waste my time searching for further clarification because an american thinks they're the center of the world? cool.

How do you know it's a common term in a country that hasn't been mentioned in this thread until you brought it up?

He says, in a post about American politics.

Okay I'll bite, which words in his reply do you think needed a thesaurus?

Needed a what? You mean a wordy-likey-bookie-wookie, college boy??

Uh, that seemed like a pretty normal vocabulary, and wasn't overly flowery.

Maybe you need to brush up.

Hoping the headlines switch to him being behind bars soon

Well, he will find out soon enough with all these judges he's insulting and threatening. Maybe even this week

Will he? He's on gag order from other judges as well and he still didn't give a fuck or felt any consequences for breaking those.

He shut up about the staff but targeted the judge and the State Prosecutor, so its a game of wack a mole but the natural progression would lead to him being totally gagged or remained which might be his ultimate goal so he can play the ultimate victim card with this brain dead supporters and hope the stink is big enough to break the rule of law? lmao Its gonna be wild, like he himself pointed out.

October 2024 - Former President Trump's legal team has filed lawsuits against several federal prison employees over complaints that a recent cheeseburger happy meal was tainted, quoting the now incarcerated president, "it taste like boo-boo".

Sources have confirmed that outside meals are not permitted, including that of McDonald's restaurants. Further that any alleged cheeseburger was likely smuggled in through something called a prison wallet.

McDonald’s... likely smuggled in through something called a prison wallet

Ok but how would you be able to tell?

This is a civil matter as I understand. I don't think this can lead to bars unfortunately.

Contempt of court could, for violating the gag order against threatening people involved in the trial.

Iiec contempt of court is still a jailabe offence.

Though it could lead to him penniless. It might not be Trump in prison, but it'll be a great sight.

Trump will never pay this fine anyway. Look at Alex Jones: has a billion dollars he has to pay to families but still hasn't paid a cent and spends 90k a month (on McDonalds burgers by the looks of it)

Trump is different as he has a lot tied up in real estate. He can't exactly make Trump Tower vanish in the middle of the night. And if Trump tries to transfer all his properties to another company now, it'll be obvious that it's trying to get past any judgements and will be reversed.

Bad strategy. Even if he got off with a $2 fine, he’d call it an “injustice”. He’s gonna go off the rails no matter what, so might as well nail him to the wall.

He’s interfering with an election, and it's a disgrace.

This statement is so dementedly ironic that I think it may have damaged the time-space continuum.

Why do people continue to be surprised or appalled at whatever Trump has to say? We already know his game. Tomorrow he'll say that Biden personally slapped him at the oval office while declaring that he got away with stealing the election. He of course slapped him back. It was the best slap.

You may as well sit down and listen to the rants of the neighborhood crazy homeless person in the 7-eleven corner.

Good question.

By the time I get to the end of an article about him, nothing he says or does surprises me. Then I’m sick of hearing about him for a while, and avoid stories about him. In the meantime, I get used to normal people again and partially “reset”. Then I’ll come across another article that’s really more of the same, but it seems a bit different. Wash, rinse, repeat.

It’s unsatisfying and irrational, but it’s also the best explanation I have.

As soon as I see "Donald Trump said..." somewhere, or if I hear his voice in the news, I mentally check out and replace my capacity to process language with sounds of a tuba playing the Macarena.

The one good thing about this trial is that America is realizing how chronically inadequate its laws are for expecting people in political office (or campaigning for) to behave within the law. Everyone is human and bound to abuse and the law should set clear boundaries to prevent that abuse.

Must be rough being a fancy lad born into extreme wealth originally derived from racist opportunist parentage, always getting your way, always having and taking license to hurt others for your own gratification because you can just hide behind a team of attorneys to protect you from the consequences of your own actions.

But enough about Elon Musk...

“People are being murdered outside on the streets and nothing happens to those people that do the murdering.”

For real, I heard some guy was standing out on 5th Avenue and shot a person in broad daylight and they never did anything about it.

It's kind of turning out that way. This shit with legs should be in prison. But rich assholes can pull off staying out of jail.

I'm loving the court phase so far, his dumb stupid grimace says it all.

Trump losing his shit makes me so happy. I loath that man and his supporters

They also forgot to request a jury which means the judge will be the decision maker in all of this

This man is about to get the narrowest gag order ever written, lol. He literally can't open his mouth about this trial and not threaten or intimidate someone.

Hasn't he already violated several gag orders without any consequences? Why should he stop now?

Any other person would have thrown into jail a long time already, but he keeps getting away with it.

Hasn’t he already violated several gag orders without any consequences? Why should he stop now?

My understanding of the current situation is that there were "informal" warnings, but not actually codified legal gag orders. I guess it was like the judge specifically told Trump not to say anything that could be construed as witness intimidation or jury poisoning.

Since he immediately turned around and did exactly that, now they're doing it "officially".

Any other person would have thrown into jail a long time already, but he keeps getting away with it.

Oh, far and beyond without a doubt a normal person like you or I would be in the slammer right now waiting for trial. I could not say the shit that he said in front of a camera and not be immediately punished for it. Trump has been treated with kid gloves throughout the whole process because everybody is afraid of invoking political wrath. I'd say if you make a fool of yourself and clearly attempt to obstruct justice, it shouldn't matter if you are a president or a pauper, it's time to be put away. Smart people stay silent.

Dude knows he's going down hard in the next 12 months. He has managed to skirt the law this long, but that long arm is tugging at him and he's scared shitless.

No one is a ‘big strong man’ the first night in prison when you’re the only person in your cell and you only have your thoughts about how you got there.

while at the same time people are being murdered outside on the streets and nothing happens to those people that do the murdering."

Isn't this the guy that referred to himself as "Teflon Don" because he could "stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn't lose voters?"

What a chump.

interferes with election

Cries interferece when it's not even remotely related

Is he looking to add contempt of court charges to the pile too? IANAL, but this seems clear-cut.

That he turns to rant just shows that he long ran out of arguments. I hope the court will draw the right conclusions and revoke his bail for threatening the presiding judge.

It’s like getting into an exasperating online debate with someone, and their final post is a rage comic.

But nothing about how his ability to hire the best people resulted in no jury for this trial because his attorney is repeatedly incompetent.

That story gave me the warm fuzzies.

ikr? nothing like giving complete control to the judge who’s already so aggravated by your nonsense that he’s been leveling fines against the attorneys. just the best, most beautiful strategy.

what a bag of hot air. If only we could tap that for energy or something.

That would be a regression from clean energy though.

Eh. Think of it as energy recovery while scrubbing out the filth.

Please, don’t make me think of what it would be like to “tap that”. Dinner is almost ready.

Livid Donald Trump….

I like how that sounds.

The judge is corrupt. A summary judgment was made without trial. This is just wrong.

The corrupt establishment is doing everything it can to stop Trump. Hilarious!

The facts are not in dispute, the crazy fraudulent way the trumpet is used to do bussiness is not a secret, he himself said 'Im very smart' when asked about not paying taxes. Hillaryous!

I don't care, and I'm not here to argue your worthless opinion. There MUST be a trial, because that's everyone's right. No one is above the law... well, except for the corrupt establishment that finds ways around law.

He did get a trial. Not all trials have juries. His lawyer filled out paperwork saying a bench trial was acceptable. This is all legit.

A summary judgment isn't a trial. You can pull this bs on your fellow teenagers, not on adults.

"This is all legit" doesn't cut it. The judge can't make a decision without a lawyer defending his case. This is your kind of bullshit. The teenager kind.

I'm in my 30s.

Not all trials have juries

^ did you read that part?

Your brain is a teenager's brain if you're really not lying. You probably believe CNN, don't you?

I read, but Trump, regardless of how much you hate him, has the right to have a jury of his peers + full trial with witnesses on the matter. Especially on a matter that's really controversial. This is corruption attempted to destroy him, nothing else. I'm not stupid to believe any of this is done in good faith.

He did have that right. He entrusted his representation to a lawyer. The lawyer waived that right.

It's not the judge's fault, nor the plaintiff's, nor the DOJ's. It's Trump's fault for trusting inept counsel.

The only "corruption" I see here is a conman trying to con the justice system.

The lawyer didn't waive shit. Don't make stuff up.

Nice barking. Now back to your cage.
