18 U.S.C. § 922(d)(1) makes it a federal crime to sell a firearm to a person who is under felony indictment.

And 18 U.S.C. § 922(n) makes it a federal crime for a person under indictment to ship or transport a firearm.

Oh the irony if Trump and Hunter Biden both caught gun charges

But cool part would be if Hunters charge was deemed unconstitutional but Trump’s was upheld.

If Hunter is charged, then Trump should be as well. If Hunter is dropped, then Trump's should be as well.

I thought there was supposed to be a Statute of Limitations issue on the Hunter case, but still....fairs fair.

As I understand it, Hunter didn't answer the question correctly on his gun purchase. Not checking the box on drug use. Though this is against the law, a district court's already deemed it unconstitutional.

Trumps is a straight federal code violation.

Different situations completely. Hunter did not accurately fill out a form. Trump is under federal indictment.

If Hunter is charged, then Trump should be as well. If Hunter is dropped, then Trump's should be as well.

Thank Christ this isn't how our legal system works. These are two different cases, and they're not linked in any way.

No that's not how it works. You see, the milquetoast AG Garland has to look non-political by actually being political and not charging Trump, but only charging Hunter Biden.

What chance is that he did it on purpose?

To upset democrats (because the case against Hunter), but also to rile up Republicans that "democrats are taking our guns away".

We never heard about him buying gun, when he could do so legally. He also doesn't give impression like he cares about guns at all.

Zero. He's not that calculating. He's a moron that instinctually manipulates and cons people through his incessant narcissism only in the present.

Calling him moron is what helped him multiple times get out of responsibility ("he didn't know", "that's how he is", "he shouldn't testify, because he could incriminate himself", like what?).

Even now with the indictments including 91 felonies he is treated so much better than somebody caught with a small bag of weed.

Don't contribute to this.

Being a moron isn't an excuse for crimes, nor is it the reason for a cop-out for the kid gloves he's being handled with. You're flagrantly misattributing his being a moron and the entirety of us calling him such as a reason he's being patted on the head like a child.

He's being coddled in a (misguided, imo) manner to give him absolutely ZERO grounds for a successful appeal in any of his cases. He's being given ALL the legal rope to hang himself with.

He's already openly admitted to Mar-a-Lago crimes from TrophShendral posts and interviews that wouldn't have existed had he already rightfully been behind bars awaiting trial.

I hope you are right. I do want to see him behind bars.

Doesn't matter if it's on purpose. Its the law.

"IT'S THE LAW." says Judge Dredd, as he instantly convicts and sentences the gelatinous orange blob to be executed on the spot. A napalm round should do the trick. There is no reason to drag this out, after all the former reality TV personality was probably the most obvious, unrepentant and insufferable criminals he'd ever had the pleasure of eliminating.

The law only matters if it is enforced, and there are strong pressures to not enforce it, and because large number of people call him moron, this is being used by his people to get him off the hook ("he didn't know" even though that was never a valid excuse, on top of that he can afford lawyers that charge more for the case that we make in our lifetime)

So I guess you wouldn't charge a crime based on what people are saying and their ability to have lawyers? Ever meet a US District Attorney? Because I assure you, they could care less.

You misunderstand me. This is not what I want, but what often happens. This is why selecting AG and DA are important. Trump didn't for charged during presidency, because his people didn't allow it. Even now he is treated with kids glowes.

I'm confused. Did he do either of these?

His campaign said he bought a Glock handgun while in South Carolina, but when it was pointed out that it would be illegal for him to have bought a gun while under federal charges, and to take the gun out of SC, his staff walked back the claim.

How would I know if someone is under felony indictment? If I sell my gun to my neighbour who is under felony indictment without my knowledge can I be sued?

Ever hear the phrase 'Background Check' ?

Stores have to do that. Private sales are a shit show.

Under those laws it doesn't matter. The dealer has to ask the question. If the answer is yes, he can't sell.

Trump commits another federal felony live on national TV to prove that he's still completely above the law.

The felony is on the seller, according to the statute. As long as Trump doesn't cross a state line in possession of the gun he's probably fine. That's how I read it, anyway.

Well he bought it in the worst Carolina, so I guarantee he's since crossed a state line. Probably with it loaded in his pants and pointing directly at his crotch.

I'm sure his babysitters confiscated it (and probably did the purchase themselves as well) so he wouldn't have a chance to shoot someone with it.

So you're saying it was also a straw purchase?

What's the likelihood Trump actually has money for a purchase like this? Chances are, the only liquid funds he can access are from political docations. Buying a firearm with political donation money sounds like another crime

“President Trump buys a @GLOCKInc in South Carolina!” his spokesman, Steven Cheung, wrote in his post. (on Twitter)

A salesperson at the Summerville location, who declined to give her name or answer additional questions, said Mr. Trump had not bought a gun.

Whaaaaa???!? A Trump lie?!?!?

The most pathetic thing is that people still fall for his bullshit.

In case you're wondering why Trump chose this particular gun store:

A lot of the media has focused on whether Trump actually purchased a gun and violated the law, but less attention has been paid to Trump’s decision to visit Palmetto State Armory, as opposed to any other gun store in South Carolina.
In late August, a white man opened fire in a Dollar General store in a predominantly Black Jacksonville neighborhood, killing three people, all of whom were Black. The shooter, who then killed himself, used a Glock handgun and an AR-15 semiautomatic rifle, at least one of which was painted with a swastika. Jacksonville Sheriff T.K. Waters said the shooter “hated Black people” and acted alone.
At least one of the guns came from Palmetto State Armory, a store in Summerville, South Carolina. The Jacksonville sheriff’s office shared photos of the firearms used in the attack on its Facebook page. One of the guns is clearly engraved with the Palmetto State Armory logo. The shooter had also drawn swastikas on the gun.
When the Jacksonville shooting happened, Trump did not issue any statement on the tragedy. But you could argue that this campaign stop is a kind of tacit statement. He put the spotlight on Palmetto State Armory, praised its inventory, and tried to offer it business.
Palmetto State Armory has openly embraced far-right ideology. In 2020, it began marketing its products using imagery and language associated with the “boogaloo,” slang for racist violence and even a call for full-on race war. It has also come to mean war to topple the government.

They sell cheap shit, lots of right-wing graphics, and you should use a disposable credit card if you shop with them. They sell a huge amount of firearms though, so I really doubt Trump went there as a nod to the racist shooter. They are just a big-ass, well-known firearms supplier.

Yeah I hate Trump, but Palmetto State Armory is a huge vendor. If I bought a gun this year (prior to learning about their right wing nonsense) there's a good chance it would have been from them, and I don't even live in South Carolina.

I understand it's been ongoing for nearly a decade at this point, but I'm still constantly surprised by how open this guy is about his racism, misogyny, etc. while still remaining so fucking popular.

I mean, I understand why. I just hate what it says about a significant percentage of the American people. It's fucking embarrassing.

I’m still constantly surprised by how open this guy is about his racism, misogyny, etc. while still remaining so fucking popular.

Racism and misogyny are why he's popular. Multiple studies have shown that is evidently why people voted for him in 2016. I, too, have been ashamed of my fellow countrymen for sinking to such depths. I now consider Republicans and Trump supporters to be my enemies, and not merely people I disagree with politically.

Yeah I know. Hence the second part of my comment.

"Went for a European model eh? Looks a lil' woke to me..."

He has no idea how to hold a pistol does he

Saw a pic of him in a car with his arm out the window, pointing it at the camera, with his finger on the god damn trigger. If that thing was loaded he was a speed bump away from re-enacting the "Oh man, I shot Marvin in the face" scene. What a fucking tool.

I was looking for it and found picture that looks like what you described, but I believe it was Photoshop of this one

And then there would be a press conference afterwards, with Marvin apologizing for getting in the way of the bullet and still supporting not only Trump's candidacy, but his God given right to discharge firearms anywhere and everywhere.

I mean that basically happened when Cheney shot that guy in the face.

I can't even imagine him with a gun, I doubt he likes them. But his base does. He wanted them as decor cause they had his face

FWIW, trump was known to have a carry permit in NYC, which is nearly impossible for the average citizen to get, and it should be no surprise that there were allegations that he wasn't properly vetted for it and there were some shady favors going in in the background in order for him to get it. Whether he ever actually ever carried is up for debate, although he claimed to, because he "likes to be unpredictable" but of course that's his words, so who's to say what they're worth.

His sons were also known to go on big game trophy hunting trips to Africa, so there's definitely some ammount of Trump family gun culture, although I vaguely remember seeing an article that I'm too lazy to track down now where Trump said he didn't really see the appeal of hunting, so who knows how much trump ever thought about guns.

I agree he was probably only interested in this one because it had his face on it.

Imagine asking a person why they carry a firearm on them and their reply is, "I like to be predictable." Like holy shit, red flag.

Now imagine that person became the President of the US.

He also attended a military school and so is at least familiar with a rifle from there

Tries to hold it gangsta style and a steaming hot shell ejects straight into his face, melting his bronzer directly into his skin

I’ll bet this got him a tremendous amount of support from some more dumbasses named Cletus.

Maybe he plans to kill himself when things get difficult.

I was going to say that there's no way he would kill himself because his ego wouldn't allow it. But before posting, I wondered if that was true so I looked it up. According to the Annals of General Psychiatry, it may actually be pretty likely.

Suicide risk is not rare in patients with narcissism, particularly in the context of severe narcissistic injury, where the patient feels shamed and/or vilified.

...snip...

Patients with narcissistic personality disorder are often thought to be less likely to make the kind of random non-lethal suicide attempts typical of the impulsivity associated with attempts made by patients with borderline personality disorder. However, Ronningstam et al. [8] point out that NPD patients are at high risk for completed suicides or highly lethal attempts without warning signs or self-disclosures. Indeed, they are made with the intention to end their lives. [Emphasis mine]

I could see Trump feeling shamed and vilified. Even more so as the various trials progress. If or when he thinks a guilty verdict is coming at him this could become a real risk. I hope they take this risk into account during the trials. I want this man in prison for as long as possible before he shuffles off the mortal coil.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

A spokesman for former President Donald J. Trump posted a video on Monday showing him at a gun shop in South Carolina, declaring that he had just bought a Glock pistol.

The post on X, formerly known as Twitter, included video of Mr. Trump, the front-runner for the Republican Party’s nomination for president who is facing four criminal indictments.

“President Trump buys a @GLOCKInc in South Carolina!” his spokesman, Steven Cheung, wrote in his post.

Mr. Trump is under indictment on dozens of felony counts in two different cases related to his efforts to reverse the results of the 2020 election and to his possession of reams of classified documents after he left office.

A salesperson at the Summerville location, who declined to give her name or answer additional questions, said Mr. Trump had not bought a gun.

At the Federal Bureau of Investigation, for instance, officials have increasingly voiced concerns about threats of violence, as Mr. Trump and his allies have targeted the agency.

The original article contains 488 words, the summary contains 165 words. Saved 66%. I'm a bot and I'm open source!

Maybe we'll get lucky and he'll use it to shoot Tucker in the middle of 5th Ave.

I think it's comical to be concerned about Trump with a gun. This is just a circus.

It's not being concerned about him with a gun, it's the blatant law breaking out in the open making a mockery of our laws and enforcement

He's going to test his fifth avenue hypothesis.

Fine with me as long as he does it completely alone.

Honestly? I might actually vote for him if he kills himself before the election

How can you vote for him then? What happens if a person on the ballot is dead?

Enough votes for a dead candidate to win may be converted to a phylactery through a dark ritual known only to certain necromancers in a D.C. pizza restaurant's basement. They take a break from animating Mitch McConnell for a few minutes, cast a spell and we get a lich president.

It's happened, too lazy to search for the politician that won after dying.

I would do it as a protest vote, but not if it means the vp gets it 🤢

He's doing it simply because he was told he couldn't and he knows his base eats up the whole "rebel against the government" schtick. Which is ironic because they're also, ostensibly, the party of "law and order", i.e. cop-sucking.

As if he doesn't already own several? I'm pretty sure I read something about him carrying a .45 regularly, but that was a few years ago.

But sure, if he wants to stack another felony on the pile, go right ahead. Whatever gets him into prison more quickly.

He only carries shit. If he carried a gun you'd see it stuffed into his diapers.

Dude couldn't maintain eyeball discipline during a solar eclipse.

yeah its exactly like the illegal immigration arguments. sure laws are being broken but come on they are just dumb laws. no biggie. let it go.

So you're argument for why people charged with felonies should be able to buy guns amounts to whatabout illegal immigration?

If that's a sound argument we should stop enforcing laws period imo.

that comment was me basically busting balls of the comment I replied to.

my bad, changed my vote

nw. hey I edited this as I was confusing two things. I did not edit the above just this reply right here.
