This is the 16th century equivalent of choosing xXxSHitl3rxXx as character name for a game. Respect to the dedication though.
I can't belive they didn't include Westward Ho!, the only place name in the UK which officially includes an exclamation mark.
Missing Cockermouth
And Penistone.
Cockermouth
? I hardly know her!
It’s me, Loose Bottom
Hey it's me, brown willy ;)
Meet me in Wide Open
Cool, rest and be thankful after?
Only if we go to Fattiehead first
I'll bring beer. Feel like I'll need to drink myself to catbrain
I’ll bring some of that Giggleswick ganja
Tthink we have a good chemistry. This is either gonna end nasty, or great snoring
Is that where people from Nether Wallop retire?
Hi it's your long lost cousin Scratchy Bottom (dry valley west of lulworth cove) Our grandpa still lives in Shaggs (hamlet north of Lulworth) but grandma is in Shitterton (hamlet next to Bere Regis) ....
How did Penistone not make it on this map?
Or Cockermouth? Or Twatt? So many missing
Shitterton is usually the name I hear first for these things.
cockfosters
east ham
slough
Hey, at least we invented place names instead of just recycling English town names like the colonies. I lived in a village called Idle for years.
I lived in a village called Idle for years.
So for all those years you didn't have the urge to leave Idle, you just sort of stayed there?
I can relate.
I bet Horrid Hill is actually a nicer place that tried to keep people away. Like a real life Scooby doo town.
Lost is smack in the middle of the world's best whiskey.
Oh, how sad. Did the big, bad, steal everything and colonize the world folk also get colonized? /j
plwmp
I really like that one for some reason.
What about Fringringhoe?

OP is merely envious that they don’t have the freedom to enjoy such names.

You could your life story based on where you lived if you just kept moving about Britain.
And for funsies what's your bank account number too!?
0303-457291!
I'm sure every country has a list of these
It's not exclusive to the uk
You could have just said "Dull", it would have been quicker
I'm here to waste time, not to save it
Yes, I've seen plenty. I've heard here in Finland that one explanation for some of the bizarre and let us say rude names is cartographers going around asking people what this or that place is called and people having fun with it or just fucking with them. And I think a lot of people just find it amusing in general. "Hey, that hill looks like a tit. Titty hill. Hehe."
A lot of names are also based on folk etymology, where corrupted names or names from different languages get merged with similar sounding words of completely different meaning.
Yes. Here’s one for Denmark I found on Facebook the other day.
I'm a personal fan of Ham, which is located right next to Sandwich! Just don't confuse it with Finglesham, deal?
Hey I've got an appointment for the Finsglesham deal at half past 4.
The Finglesham deal discussions will be going well into the night so don't forget your ham sandwich at half past 3.
I'm from the UK and thought these had to be fake til I saw Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch.
Nope, all real.
Just so you know, that name is new and made up for purely tourist reasons.
New as in 1800s, pretty sure some of these other places didn't exist then too.
This map is just the tip of the iceberg, some are much more detailed
They missed Shitterton off the maps.
That's a funny way to spell Stoke.
I live in between Wide Open and Pity Me and have visited both those places!
Won’t you take me to… Donkey Town
I thought Donkey Town was in Tijuana
With amount of times I have have to write down my address for work, I would love to live in donkey town.

I lost it at Ae
Hi, I’m Lianfairpwilgwyngyligogerychwyrndrobwilllantysiliogogogoch
There's always Westward Ho! which has to be spelled with an exclamation mark like that, as if they'd let boomer facebook name a town.
There's a town called Barrow-in-Furness which officially has the dashes in it.
Canada has Saint-Louis-du-Ha! Ha!
Great Snoring

A lot of these don't sound that silly if your English is any good.
Spunkie is absolutely silly if your British English is any good
For Americans, that would be like a city called Jizz
Cumming, Iowa
Agreed!

Not as long as OPs but has some real goodies.
Missing Willey, willeymoor and many other derivatives
I wasn't aware that the UK has such Dank places.
Guess I'm beer... but I already knew that
