Can someone post hate comments so I feel at more normal?

Go back to reddit you fucking moron

Thank you kind stranger!

No such thing as strangers, just cunts you haven't met yet

(Cunt to be defined at a later date by emphasis)

Go onto Lemmygrad and try talking about your investment property.

OP on the first of the month: Good morning, renters!

Go on hexbear and literally say anything at all

literally

Only worthless capitalists read!

Unironically true looking at literacy rates in poor under supported communities.

Your mother was a hamster, and your father smelt of elderberries.

Your mother's on xhamster and father's phone a Blackberry™

Your mother's on the Instagram and your father is a Hexbear

What a strange person.... is there anyone else we could talk too?? I am King, ya know!

Ooh look at me I'm a redditor "same poop knife story for 11 years" and how about some "and I also choose this guy's dead wife for 7 years." And now I am slightly less moderated, spooOOOooky. Enjoy these Jesus ads we are "serving" you. I once made a comment on the internet AITA?

Something something broken arms.

Colby, cumbox, swamps of degobah, doritos.

I hate that the good ones were forgotten. Ask a pedo, geraffe, grilled cheese vs melt. The guy who cut off and ate his dick.

Genuinely, what does this mean??

The better stories from Reddit. Everyone knows the most recent Reddit trend and the askreddits are filled with them. But the best stories are the ones from 10+ years ago.

Spanish Reddit is another classic that never gets mentioned. There’s a slew of them if you look at the old “What’s something people on Reddit should know about Reddit” askreddits.

What does "the better so tired from Reddit" mean? I genuinely can't tell if you're trolling me. What you said made no sense. I was on Reddit for a little while and don't remember Spanish Reddit, poop knife, spooky, or Jesus ads.

It was a typo lmao. I meant “stories”.

Idk how long you were on there, but I was there for about 13yrs. and the “inside jokes” can be a little overwhelming at times. The Jesus Ads were the “He Gets Us” ads everywhere, if you never saw one then you must have used a client that didn’t have ads like Apollo, or paid for no ads through other clients.

As for the stories I’m talking if about, they all happened over a decade ago. You’d have to specifically search for them nowadays because like I said, they never get mentioned in those “Reddit history” askreddit threads anymore. All the stories mentioned nowadays have happened in the last couple years. IIRC, even poop knife is only like 6 or 7 years old.

Also I’m calling them stories because idk what else to call them. Some are threads, others are comments.

Oh shit, Streetlamp leMoose was another one I forgot about. Damn, there were so many greats that have been lost to time. The Search and Rescue series on no sleep. Talking about it is bringing up more and more memories.

Please, lemmy has been a thing for all but a second and we already have beans, stroganoff, hexbear...

Lmao try talking smack about communism and why cars are great then watch your notifications explode

Since I switched to a instance that block Hexbear I can get a little political without too many issues, I am a far left anti capitalist tho, I just really dislike facists with a bit of red paint!

Comment on any political post if you desire hatred, those are astoundingly vitriolic here.

The political communities are far more welcoming than Reddit as well.

I suspect you just agree with the political zeitgeist here more. There's extremist propaganda all over Lemmy. I never saw users threaten to execute other people on Reddit, I've seen it twice on Lemmy from the psychopaths on hexbear.

Well yes, but also that's hexbear. Don't get me wrong: they are loonies, some of them possibly even unironically, and federating them is fucking stupid for any instance. At least you know they're definitely safe to ignore, though.

Probably just never saw it on Reddit because of the hyper moderation and reporting (especially spaces that are mainstream politics). I've been lucky enough to catch some drama before the entire chain is nuked so it definitely exists. What's worse is no matter what subreddit you go into there's hatred of another side (try visiting something as mundane as a ufo sub and it's crazy), here the smaller niche communities seem calmer and more welcoming in general.

One thing I have noticed on here is we're all highly polarized from other online interactions and Lemmy gives the ability to somewhat combat that instinct. In-fighting among like-minded people is usually settled with a "I agree with your sentiment but also feel 'this' way". The "I hate people from this instance", is tempered with an equal amount of people who just don't care. I'm not sure if that will be the case as popularity rises over time and the louder voices drown out everyone but it's definitely made me re-think my gut reactions and commenting etiquette since being here which never would've happened on Reddit.

Fair enough. I think you're more optimistic about the future of Lemmy with regard to the propaganda on here, and I hope you're right.

I suspect Lemmy will continue to flail and probably die because of the political extremism on here, but I really love the idea of community owned social media.

Well it's a mixed bag, let's just say we have less Neo Nazis here but if your instamce doesn't defederate properly you can get really weard and facist garbage from very rude people!

Ooh! I thought of another one:

You think Unity deserves a second chance.

Except for the fact that I'm constantly reminded that I'm bad for not using Linux.

I'd like to interject for a moment and remind you that you're bad for not calling it GNU/Linux.

"Or GNU plus Linux, as I've taken to calling it" [self-satisfied smirk]

"I use arch btw"

Goddamnit! Some guy in another comment here was making fun of reddit for having so many catchphrases that people seemed to throw out at every opportunity.

And now look at us!

You’re using a FOSS application right now, helping it grow with your participation. As far as Linux goes, I think you’ve done your part if you’ve tried it or even just honestly considered it. Most don’t even go that far, and most really could use Linux without compromise for their 100% web browser computer use.

You couldn't pay me enough to admit that around here yikes

-Sent from my Windows10 PC

Don't worry, once you do it goes on because you use the wrong kind of Linux or the wrong technology on it! ;)

But but... you are? 🥺

We remind you cuz we care 🤗

You can install a fucking Gentoo on windows. Without WSL and any other virtualization.

I'm a complex person as we all are, but a lot of what I see on these sorts of websites brings out my anger at society and the bad things it can bring.

So I show a lot of that anger in response, but not right here. I've only got one thing to say to you.

Fuck you I won't do what you tell me

Fuck off dude.. just because you're lonely and want friends doesn't mean you get to march in here like you fucking wrote the internet yesterday, demanding attention like some kinda rainman nazi noob. If I had a buck for every joke like you that stepped up to this plate, just to strike out, I'd be swimming up to my neck in Benjamins.

Go back to reddit where mommy Pooh kept you safe from free thought. Here at Lemmy we pride ourselves in being not different at all, and we thoroughly enjoy the lack of moderation and the resultant increase in spam.

-- hope it helps --

Unless you post a comment talking positively about any software that's not FOSS.

"Yeah guys sometimes I just don't have hours of free time to set up and troubleshoot free software when paid alternatives are onl-ACK!"

It's not more welcoming at all, and that's a stupid thing to say

OP, you replied to one of my comments saying "yes!". Next time think something useful to say before opening your mouth.

Nah this just feels wrong, sorry :(

Say something nice about windows os and watch the Linux neck beard daddy's attack.

Just post anything political or FOSS related, the community will do the rest! ;)

If you're not using vim as your primary IDE, do you even matter?

I often see my inbox light up and my first instinct is a feeling of mild dread, wondering if I'm now in another confrontation I must choose to engage with or ignore. But I have yet to see a single negative reply on here.

There's plenty when you start disagreeing with the circlejerk. For example, just say anything positive about America. The xenophobia any% speedrunners will appear real quick.

Oh I see, you want to control our actions? Centuries of systemic oppression wasn't enough for you?

Literal nazi scum!

hate comments so I feel at more normal?

Hope this helps!

Yeah, this is how internet should feel like. This is how it was, until those corpo fucks ruined everything with their "enforced positivity".

Search for posts about censorship in internet and you will find people who will accuse you in pedophelia.

Both reddit and lemmy are filled with edge-lord racists and people who just throw childish insults at you

I just block the ones who throw childish insults at me. It's reduced the number of childish insults greatly.

Honestly this is a good way to do things. Curate your online experience. I got it from Tumblr, actually.

Don't worry, say climate change is no big deal or that Biden has dementia and see what happens.
